Cannop Cycle Centre is the starting point for the Forest of Dean off road Trail which is suitable for families and consists of eleven miles of waymarked, surfaced tracks, most of which are on former railway lines
Peregrin Cycle trail
This runs from Symonds Yat East to Monmouth. this trail can be acesed easily by crossing the road from the rock and cycling down to the valley to Join the Track
Forest of Dean Mountain Biking
about 4 miles from the Rock
There are a number of downhill runs and a singletrack route in the area behind the Pedal a bike away Cannop Cycle Centre .
Bird watching
The forest offers huge potential for ornithologists the forest itself offers a great variety of habitats, The Rock is only a 25 min walk from the RSPB viewpoint at Symonds Yat Rock.
Only 40 mins away is the new wetlands centre in Newport which is supposed to rival those of the famous norfolk wetlands reserves and guests advise it is free entry

Go Ape in the Forest of Dean
About 10 minutes drive away at Mallards pike is the forest of deans Go Ape centre
Canoeing is very popular on the wye and many companies offercanoe or kayak hire together with transportaion. They drop you and canoes up steam and you paddle back to them or you paddle downstream and they come and collect you from a pre determined point

Offer day tickets for coarse fishing beats close by at Lydbrook, Goodrich, and Monmouth. There is salmon fishing available at Wyesham and Bigsweir aswell as the afore mentioned. Trout fishing is available as near as the Garren in Whitchurch and on 3 streams in the forest of dean
