The Rock B&B accommodation is a quick 10 minute 4 mile drive from Clearwell Castle and very popular with individuals or groups attending weddings or functions at Clearwell Castle, sleeping up to 14 people and offering a mix of single twin, double and king size double rooms three of the seven rooms are Dog Friendly. If you don't want to drive look at the great value accommodation package prices with door to door taxis.
The Rock is a 4 star Bed and Breakfast popular due to its fantastic location at 600 ft above the Wye and Ruardean valleys. As well as comfortable and well appointed ensuite rooms the Rock offers a great breakfast buffet and choice of a Full English breakfast using thick cut back bacon and local award winning sausages. The rock is also gaining a great reputation amoungst the vegetarian guests as Lindy produces her own Vegetarian Sausages to accompany a Full English vegetarian option for breakfast.
Many people visiting Clearwell decide not to just stay for one or two nights at the Rock to attend a function at the castle but take advantage of the Rock's short break deals and combine the event with time to explore the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean.
Getting back Late from an Event is no problem at the Rock as the Forest View rooms and the Valley View Rooms have direct access from the car park or Garden meaning you don't disturb anyone, or require a House Key to get back to your room
The Rock is also Ideal for Families who often take over all the rooms at the Rock gaining exclusive use of the Rocks Lounge room - in fact almost making the event not only one to attend a wedding but one where people can enjoy a house party.
From the Rock B&B the best way to clearwell castle is to drive through Christchurch then either via coleford or Newland which is less than 5 miles
Clearwell castle was well known to the rock music scene
In the Seventies as many rock stars rehearsed and recorded at the Castle, among them Led Zeppelin, Abba, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath , Bad Company and Queen.
Clearwell Castle, was built for Thomas Wyndham around 1728, sits at the edge of the tiny village from which it takes its name. Its site is old - it was originally a Roman villa - and in the 16th century, Sir Walter Raleigh reputedly used it as a place of courtship. in the Fifties it was derelict. Nowadays it is a very popular wedding venue
