Note all these walks are from our Door without the use of a car!
The New Inn Loop - a 30 to 40 minute walk taking in great views along part of the Wysis way some road walking then returning along a forest footpath. Ideal as an n evening walk and stopping for a pint! Food is available here.
The Kings Head loop this is about an hour’s walk which basically extends the New Inn loop this pub has a restaurant. Dog friendly in the bar no Dogs in restaurant
Mailshot Lodge Loop this is a simple Walk into the forest from just opposite the Rock B&B allow 30 to 45 mins
The Dog and Muffler Walk a very popular pub can also be walked from the Rock across the fields using the Wysis Way
Half day walks
Symonds Yat Rock loop – This is about an hour to an hour and a half’s walk it is uneven and steep in a few places but a super walk through old forest tracks to the Rock where you can watch the peregrines .we recommend sturdy footwear with anti slip soles it can be muddy in places
Symonds Yat Rock and Bibles bridge circuit – This is this extends the Walk above to about Three hours with some stops longer if you have a lunch or pint at a pub at Symonds Yat East or do a river cruise. The walk is on uneven surfaces possibly slippery in the wet with a steep decent down some steps and a long slow 4th 500 foot ascent. From Symonds Yat Rock you go down to Symonds Yat East where if running you can take the hand ferry over to the other side of the Wye and walk to Biblins bridge then back through the forest to the Rock B&B (if the ferry is not running you can complete the walk on the East side)
Symonds Yat Rock Via the Coldwell walks and huntsman hill back via Symonds Yat East along to biblins Bridge and up to the Rock B&B – This is a 6 to 7 mile walk this route takes a shorter way to the Symonds Yat Rock then Winds down the top of Coldwell Cliffs to join the Wye below Symonds Yat Rock and around huntsman Hill to Symonds Yat East Biblins Bridge and back to the Rock, Lunch or teas available at Symonds Yat east
Two view points walk This is a six to seven mile walk which heads down the Wysis way through some glorious forest tracks over the Welsh Border (beware of sheep rustlers!) up to the Forest high point of near harkening rock. From there the walk takes you to Staunton (Pub stop if you need it) then to buck stone a fine viewpoint over to the Black mountains then returns you via the High meadow trail back to the Rock B&B. There are a few strenuous up hill sections and we recommend stout waterproof footwear. Allow 4 hours and allow 6 hours of day light
There are various extensions we can advise on to extend these walks if you wish and are happy using an OS map
Full day walks
The three paths walk to Near harkening Rock (Wysis Way), The Kymin and Monmouth (via Offas Dyke path) returning via the Wye valley walk to Biblins and back up to the Rock B&B. This a favourite walk but it is strenuous and we recommend you be walk fit for this one its about 12 miles with some strenuous up hill sections in the first half of the walk with the second half walking along the Wye valley walk by the river with a final Hike back up to the Rock B&B.
The Monmouth Circuit this is about 10 miles and less arduous. From the Rock B&B you walk down to the River and along the Peregrine way on the East bank of the Wye to
