Ross on Wye is only 7 miles from the Rock B&B in one of the most picturesque areas of Herefordshire.
Known as Ross until 1931, Ross on Wye is a market town on the banks of the Wye. There is an interesting riverside walk guides for which can borrowed by residents from Chris or Lindy

Ross is described as the birth place British Tourism and gateway to the Wye valley. The "picturesque" movement discoved the english country side as a pleasant and beautiful place to explore and admire the scenery. Prior to this the country side was just considered as an area for food production.
The publication of William Gilpins illustrated guide book " Observation on the River Wye" saw an increasing demand for River trips from Ross to Chepstow taking in the views of places such as Goodrich Castle and Symonds Yat Rock.
By 1808 there were 8 boats offer ting trips and by the mid 1800's Ross was an established tourist destination
The Rock Bed offers a great alternative to the Ross on Wye Hotels Located at 600 ft on a ridge between the Wye and Ruardean Valleys with views stretching over 25 miles. This is great walking country with many walks straight from the Door.
The Rock offers high Quality (4 star) bed and breakfast accommodation with 7 purpose built rooms with all rooms having their own entrance from the large car park. Two rooms offer dog Friendly accommodation while two further rooms are kept dog free for allergy sufferers.
The breakfast room is acessed through the Large gardens close to the guests Hot Tub letting you enjoy fantastic views from the hot tub . The Rock documents its own Walks for guests use as well as holding a library of walking books. The Rock is accredited as Cyclist, Walker and Pet Friendly by vist England.
Our breakfasts consist of a buffet of Cereals, fruit and juices and toast and preserves. Our English Breakfast uses free range eggs form our own chickens or red lion stamped free range eggs from a local supplier, locally made award winning sausages and thick cut Bacon. Home made vegetarian sausages and also a speciality
