The Rock B&B which was originally the Rock Inn and was built in the late 1500's -around the time of the Spanish Armarda. Yat Rock has been a tourist destination for over 200 years which would explain why the Rock Inn changed its name from the Original Cock Inn in the mid 1800's
Symonds Yat East in Herefordshire lies under Yat Rock and is in the Wye Valley. At Symonds Yast east there are two Hand ferry crossings to Symonds Yat West which are used in several of the circular walks published by the Rock B&B. Symonds Yat Rock is the most visited attraction in the Forest of Dean and is arguably the finest viewpoint in southern England offering impressive views into Herefordshire and South Wales. The Coldwell Cliffs which are the home of the Peregrine Falcons can be seen from the viewpoint with RSPB guides there to help you see them from Easter till October. The tree lined top of these cliffs can also be seen from the Garden of The Rock Bed and Breakfast.
Symonds Yat Rock is a 25 minute walk from the Rock through the forest making an ideal evening or early morning stroll to for a sunrise or sunset.
The Symonds Yat and Symonds Yat Rock area extends for some 35 square kilometres to include the hamlest of Goodrich, Kearn Bridge, the Doward, Hillersland and English Bicknor in the forest of Dean.
