The New Inn at Shortstanding is a friendly local pub, serving traditional home cooked pub food. It is just over ¾ mile away and 15 minute walk. The Dog and Muffler is popular with guests, (More a restaurant that’s a pub than a pub that does food!) it is about 2 miles away and they offer a steak and pud for £10 Tue to Thursday evenings, booking recommended. You can walk over the fields to the pub in the summer when the evenings are light. Closed on Mondays. www.dogandmuffler.co.uk Tel 01594 832 444 closed Mondays

Cinnamon in Coleford is a good Indian restaurant / takeaway opposite Tram Stop Fish and Chip shop.. Similar menu to the Misbah below but not quite as polished –but very good!
For a slightly more up market restaurant ideal for a special occasion we would recommend the Misbah in Monmouth recently voted best in S.Wales by the Good curry guide. At the top of the high street, 300m after “Iceland” supermarket, The Misbah is on the right. It is advisable to Book and if you go on a Thursday night and mention you want the banquet deal you get a great meal for £9.95.(NOTE you can not get the deal if you don’t Book). Tel 01600 714940
Moco Mexican Restaurant Monmouth very good value lunches North American customers advise this is good Tex Mex
The Boat Inn at Redbrook is one place that everyone should visit. While they serve basic pub food it’s the location that draws people here. The car park is by the River Wye in England and you will need to cross the old railway bridge to get to the pub in Wales. Cider was the traditional beverage around here, rather than beer, and is kept in barrels behind the bar although there are a selection of real beers to go with the 16 or so ciders. Well worth a visit www.theboatpenallt.co.uk tel 01600 712 615
