Forest of Dean and Wye Valley  Walks


The Rock B&B makes a great  base for a walking

Walking here is an all year round activity. 

In Spring , the forest is full of bluebells and Wild garlic.

In Summer, the wye shimmers in the sunlight, with fantastic views from many viewpoints.

In the Autumn the reds and Golds of the changing leaves are spectacular.

In the Winter, the crisp frost crunches underfoot. there are great views with the mist  laying low in the valleys.

To the north lies excellent walking around Symonds Yat Rock

To the east lies the Wye Valley and walks to Monmouth through deep forest and back along the Wye valley Walk and back over the Biblins bridge and back to the Rock B&B

 To the west lies the Central forest of Dean

This gives a wide variety of walks with out using a car  and if you are willing to drive the walking opportunities are endless within a 10 mile radius.

The Rock offers an ideal location for a walking holiday break with trails starting just 30 paces your stylish ensuite accommodation. After a breakfast to set you up for the Day you can enjoy walks which vary in length from one to eighteen miles.

From the door you can walk to:-

  • Four famous viewpoints.

  • What is reputed to be the largest loose boulder in the UK!

  • Walk alongside the original route of Offas Dyke.

  • Enjoy deep forest walks or rolling country side.

  • Some of the finest sections of the Wye Valley Walk.

Then back for a soak in the hot tub to admire the 25 mile views across the garden with views towards the Malvern Beacons and Coppett Hill nature reserve and English Bicknor.
