River Wye Canoe Hire is very popular on the Wye and many companies offer  hire together with transportation. They drop you and canoes up steam and you paddle back to them or you paddle downstream and they come and collect you from a pre-determined point. After heavy rain it takes about 30 hours for the river to rise and it is not possible to take canoes out in a very fast flowing river.

I go paddling once a year with a group of friends sometimes the river gets low and you literally have to get out and push! Needless to say we like to get the river when it is just right so we can stay in the boats and not have to face large rapids.
